Charles Newcomb (Daniel, Jonathan, Jonathan, Peter, Francis) b. at Keene,N. H., Nov 28, 1792, farmer; spent 2 ½ years at Harvard Coll., which he left on account of poor health. Traveled several years in N. Y., O., Ind., and Ill.; reached Ill 1818, and went thence to Franklin, Mo., where he m. Mar. 22, 1822, Betty, dau. Of James and Susan Hallett, and widow of Capt. Peleg Thatcher, b. in Barnstable, Mass., May 11, 1793. He lived in Mo. 4 yrs; removed, 1824, to Springfield, Ill., and soon after to Farmington, Fulton Co., same State, where he resided till his death, May 6, 1859. He was many years sheriff of Fulton Co.; his widow res. In Galesburgh, Ill.
